Alexandra Galiano

Alex obtained her undergraduate degree at Queens College, graduating with a BA in Psychology. Nearing graduation, a course in exercise and diet awakened in her an interest in the human body and fitness. Her motivation to pursue a career in physical therapy came from successful treatment of a close friend. She graduated from Touro School of Health Sciences in 1999 with her master of science degree in physical therapy. It was here that she first met Ray, as her professor in orthopedics and as the student clinical education coordinator. In this role, he placed her in an internship that stressed manual approaches to patient care and provided direction for a continuing professional journey. For over 16 years she has been working as a manual therapist. She began her career, working for 4 years, at Southside Health Institute, treating orthopedic, sports and post-operative injuries, integrating manual treatments with exercise and education. She worked here with Ray and many other skilled manual therapists that valued ongoing professional development. Alex has continually honed her skills, taking over 30 continuing education courses including Maitland Mobilization for spine and extremities, McKenzie treatment approach for cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, Institute of Physical Art courses for core training and soft tissue and fascial mobilization and multiple courses in muscle energy techniques for spine and extremities. She has also taken courses through the Hospital for Special Surgery, staying current with new surgical procedures and treatment approaches for athletic and post-operative care. Bright Bay PT has been her professional home since January of 2004, and she feels fortunate to work in an environment where high standards of care are maintained even as the health care environment changes. From January of 2014 to December of 2015, she was pleased to serve as acting director of BBPT while Ray was with the Boston Red Sox.  During this time she spent working with the fantastic team at BBPT and continued to provide patients the highest quality care fostered by Ray. Alex is an avid runner, healthy eater and general wellness fanatic. (OK…addict!) In her off time she enjoys hanging with her husband, running, travelling, cooking, gardening and following the sun. She is a doting dog mom to Lola, 8 pounds of love and attitude!
